2. What are you Majoring in or planning to Major in at KPU?

I've planned to major in Journalism for quite some time now, though I may possibly transfer to SFU within the first two years of the journalism program in order to pursue a career in teaching K-12. Something in which is mandatory if I were to pursue said career, as it would require me to take my PDP (Professional Development Program) elsewhere, aka SFU.

3. Why are you taking this course?

Writing, reading, and generally just keeping myself and the media I surround myself with very literate has always been a key factor of not just my life but my family. As I grew up with and was raised around/by people that took their intelligence, awareness, and literacy extremely seriously and strived to do the same for me. Of course, you can really never be literate and unaware of current events revolving around politics / social justice etc.. Therefore I've always found myself carrying a strong passion for both, something in which would play a key factor in a career in Journalism. Id hope this course is a strong base for the other courses required and featured in KPU's Journalism program, and I hope to build on from this class into my future following courses.

4.  What are you hoping to learn in this course?

Uses of independent journalism in relation to social change & community outreach.

5. What is the best place you’ve ever visited? Why?

Hawaii (as seen on the right), although I visited with my mom in about the 1st grade and I can barely remember most of it, I have several very warm and important memories from that trip. One being the sheer amount of interesting wildlife in and around Honolulu in particular, and it isn't like here where insects and lizards are seen as pests or disruptive. Instead being seen as just a part of Honolulu's rich habitat.

6. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Play guitar, sing, write music, go on walks, work out at the gym, get coffee with friends, go on hikes with my partner.

7. What is one thing you recommend to others and why?

Always keep something creative that you enjoy around you and with you at all times, as you never know when you may need it. Creativity keeps us alive and uniquely ourselves, and although centering one's life around creative endeavours is becoming ever the more unrealistic in our current world of recession and capitalist structure you need to always have tha tone thing that keeps you grounded and feeling like "you".
